Becky Farrar was 19 and three months into dance college when she left. Her read on it now is not that she lacked talent. She had been a high achiever who had never faced much adversity, and so had never built the skills to meet any. Nobody had taught her how to think, and she names that rather than the dancing as what held her back.
She opened her own dance academy instead and taught for 21 years. Over that time her attention shifted from what her students could do on a floor to what happened to them while they learned it. The personal development side of the work was what she kept returning to, long before she called it her work.
When COVID closed the studio, shortly after a significant investment in it, she found out something she had not gone looking for. She did not miss the dancing. What she missed was watching people change. A meditation in 2022 turned into journaling that described a life she was not living, and she describes the next stretch as dancing with fear for three and a half years. A single line in a nervous system audio ended it. You are one decision away from a completely different life.
Her framework came out of those years. Future focus is connecting daily with the version of yourself you believe you can be. Expansion capacity is the uncomfortable inner work of growing into it. Aligned action is one small step, or, in the part she says nobody talks about, an intentional pause to let growth settle. Reinforcing identity is the repetition that makes something scary ordinary.
What she teaches sits underneath all of it. There is no right or wrong decision, only the one you make and your willingness to trust yourself to handle what follows. Worth built on achievement never settles, because the next achievement is always outstanding. And the self-doubt that shows up before a decision is not evidence against it. The brain protects the identity you already have, so growth you chose still registers as danger.
She is honest that she is in the middle of this rather than on the other side of it. She still hesitates before putting herself forward for a podcast or a speaking slot, does it anyway, and counts the asking as the win, because that is the part she can control.
